I don't have an alias so i guess i'd better think of one. Okay, so call me Palladin, for no good reason. 68 y/o and on P.D. for 2.5 years. Lost my kidneys and 5 toes after a heart attack. Heart got repaired, toes and kidneys didn't. All things considered I'm glad it wasn't worse and I think I'm doing pretty well.

Live in west Florida and I'm a Fresenius patient. I can't say I hate dialysis because without it I'd be dead. What I hate is my condition with severe neuropathy in both feet and at times i am unable to walk.

My state of mind is good, not depressed about what happened to me nor my condition. Its the cards I'm dealt and I play them as best I can. I'll admit at times its hard  to look at able bodied people and not be jealous.

Welcome!!
How amazing is heart surgery now days!!? My husband also had his heart repaired at age 54, a 5 way by pass....wasn't overweight, was active etc etc
although at age 50 was diagnosed with less than 20% kidney function so was on lots of drugs which may not have helped his heart.
He also has neuropathy - feeling loss to just above the knees and beginning to go in his fingers but plenty of circulation.
Plumber by trade - we expect the solvents used have caused the damage....
Has been on dialysis now for just over a year, a few problems along the way but this week is good and now back doing home dialysis from today after a few issues.

I must say he is also not depressed and takes his health issues as they come....although was in denial until he was at 5% function !!
What was your career path.....Florida would be a nice place to visit :) We are in Australia.

Welcome, glad to hear that its going ok enough.  I find it amazing that these machines can keep us alive without a major functioning organ - and we can have a fairly good life...
