Title: Anyone else with this problem?
Post by: carson on April 02, 2007, 06:32:28 AM
After having my immune system toyed with for so many years (25), I picked up a wart virus somewhere along the line and it's gotten out of control.
I have warts all over the place. I have seen many many dermatologists and they just use liquid nitrogen to freeze them off, but it doesn't always work, and I end up with scars and blisters all over my body. Not to mention it hurts!
Now I'm seeing a new derm. who is attempting to get rid of them using Aldara cream. It was originally formulated for venereal warts but it has been found it works for all kinds. The idea is to increase the specific immune responses to target the wart virus.
I guess the transplant people are worried that some of these things might become cancerous with sun exposure, etc.
The only problem with Aldara is the expense.
Has anyone else had this problem? I've heard it's common in transplant recipients and people on immunesuppression drugs.
How have you been treated?
Have you had any success with the treatment?
Do they EVER go away?
Thanks, Lisa

when i was in junior high i had a weird outbreak of warts all over my hands.  i had clusters of them everywhere on my hands.  i had them all lazered off.  havent had a problem with them since.  never knew what caused it but havent had any problems since.

i hope your new derm can find a permanent solution to your situation.  you should ask about the lazer treatment.
good luck.

Well John has just asked me what this small lump come up under his eye was, I said it looks like a wart and after reading some of the posts on this site it looks like it is quite a common thing.
