Title: Introducing myself, scarred and helpless
Post by: elizabetht on April 01, 2007, 10:02:39 PM
I'm Donna, a caregiver to a friend. I need suggestions from patients on the things that help them the most. I don't want to make things worse.

Hi Donna,

 :welcomesign; to our site. You will find a lot of helpful information from our site, views from patients, caregivers, workers, anyone that cares or knows somebody on dialysis really.

We do have a caregiver section which may help you, here is a link to make things easy http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?board=33.0

Anyway enjoy the site, everyone is helpful and friendly so ask away and have a good look around.

Welcome to our community.  This is the place for anyone with any connection whatsoever to this renal challenge.  I like your willingness to find out things so you can help you friend.  As Tamara said, we have a section especially for caregivers.  However, you will find lots of help in our General Discussion Section, as well as FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions.
What you can do is start a topic in the General Discussion, asking What Can I do to Help as a Caregiver?  I am sure that you will receive lots of answers there.
Continue to post and let us know how your friend is doing.  This site has gone past just being a community and is now a real family.  Here is a group hug from all of us -  :grouphug;

Welcome to IHD Elizabeth,

Your introduction is a bit short so all I can do is welcome you. It takes time getting used to a website where you are allowed to voice your opinions and talk about yourself. We are here for you as a caregiver just like we are here for anyone else, so please feel comfortable to browse the forums, post often and ask questions. You could add more to your introduction when you feel comfortable and if you choose to. No pressure here.

It's my pleasure to have met you.

Sluff, Administrator

Hi there-- don't be frightened....people here will help you- there is a diet section that deals with the food and sections for each kind of dialysis-tell us a bit more-what kind of dialysis ,PD,hemo etc.
there are all kinds of people here-I am also a caregiver- my husband is also a dialyzor. april 2006, so we are new too-his first year was really rough- I guess it takes awhile for you body to settle down,(of course the drs didnt tell us that)
so do not feel alone- tell us what is going on. There is even a spouse and caregiver section, although we all post everywhere.
