I had a flood with my System One. When the system was delivered, the local FMC rep positioned the water supply line so it overlapped the line going from the filter to the PureFlow controller. The lines were in contact with each other and over the course of a bit over a year, the flowing water caused the lines to vibrate enough that they wore into each other until the water supply line sprung a pinhole leak, which amounted to a significant amount of water over time. Making it worse was this was a carpeted room so instead of being immediately obvious, the carpet wicked the water over a large area causing damage to the floor.
So, you NxStage users might want to check this on your setups.

Sounds like a nitemare! Sorry to hear this happened to you! I have our Pureflow and cycler situated at an angle in the room so I can actually walk behind them and check connections everyday. Of course, I'm paranoid of things so waste a lot of time just triple checking. We're in an apartment with carpeting. Wish we could have tile flooring. Wish we didn't have to do dialysis...

NxStage has opened a case and it looks like they will cover the floor refinishing. I am fortunate the damage was in (probably) hundreds; water floods from things like upstairs laundries can costs tens of $K. The leak was small enough it took a careful look to find... it's the time and wicking effect of the carpet that did the damage.

I hope you'll win the case Simon Dog. I have the overlapping lines as well, and have since day one a blanket in between them cause the vibrating noise alone drives me crazy.
Good luck, Cas

Good move on the blanket. If my experience is any guide, it is saving you from a lot more than just a bit of annoying noise.
You can unconnect a line and move it so the line that is over is under and get rid of the contact. NxStage phone support will give you all the details on how to do this safely.

I taped our lines together in several places so they can't move around. I drilled two small holes in the base board to get tubes in and out of our laundry room where the water box is. If you get creative you can easily buy the push to connect fittings from just about any hardware or plumbing store to go up and around anything. I wouldn't use them on blood or dialysate of course but they do work on the drain and waste tubing that goes to the pureflow. If I ever run out of things to do I may get some tube straps and 90 degree push to connect elbows and permanently mount the tubing to the baseboard from the machine. If you are reading this and haven't installed your tubing yet, you may want to get some tube straps and a few push to connect fittings. HOWEVER, the tubing seems to fill up with sediment or pee crystals so we have replaced it a few times in 7 years. I don't know if a permanent tubing setup is all that great.

Cable ties are great for that, but you still need the last couple of feel (+/-) uncoupled so they can connect where they need to. Be careful not to let the blue line rub against anything, including another blue line.

The other night I must have done a stupid and didn't double check the drain bucket on my Cycler. I have made this mistake once before. Well, let's just say the carpet in that area is CLEAN, again.
Twice in about 10 months. I hope I never make it trice!
