Title: Post donor issue
Post by: dtwbcs on May 06, 2015, 08:09:54 AM
Well I donated my kidney 4Feb14 for my brother. He seems to be doing great. Every since the operation ,I have had lower back pain/issues.Especially in the mornings. It takes about an hour or so before the lower back muscles loosen up enough so that I can walk around the house,to get ready for work.To this day I have an issue with bending over at the waist or lying down to do something work related. Then I have a problem getting back upright. Anybody else experience this??btw I still can't wear the pants that I did a year ago.I gave birth to a kidney&now I have a "baby bump" belly below my belly button.A bulge or ?? to where my pants don't fit correctly. Is this normal? The nephrologist just says that I look okay??

Thanks in advance

This doesn't sound right to me. It has been one year since my dear friend donated her kidney to me. She is doing great. She says she just can't believe how normal she feels. I also feel really good. I think there must be something going on. Do you have a primary care doc you can discuss this with? I don't like to hear that anyone who has done such a wonderful thing is not feeling as well as before they donated a kidney. I hope you can get some help.

It sounds like a hernia maybe. You need a different doctor. Nephs don't deal with this stuff. Start with your primary care doctor and go from there.
