Title: Changing My Schedule!!!!!
Post by: Hazmat35 on March 30, 2015, 07:05:42 AM
Hello to all!

I've been doing in-center Dialysis for almost 5 years.  I work full time and on Dialysis Days (M-W-F); I go in to work early and I leave early (@ 1:30 PM) to get to my Dialysis Center by my scheduled time @ 2:00 PM....works out perfect!

I've always bragged on my DaVita Center for being so wonderful; so clean; and so helpful...but I'm starting to see true colors flying these days.  Our FA has moved to another facility; and just recently the new one has taken over.  He seems to be a nice guy; nothing against him for getting a promotion and a new job; everyone changes; people get promotions in business's every day and move on; and move up....I totally understand....however.....!

Last Friday; I go in at my scheduled time; and my Tech hands me two sheets of paper; one a copy of the other.  It is my "new scheduled time confirmation" sheet.  Basically what happened was that the 'new FA' went around and changed everyone's scheduled time.

HELLO....did anyone ask me if I could come in @ 12:30 PM???????  I have to be thee by 12:15 PM....which means that I have to leave work by 11:45 PM....!  I about flipped my lid.  The girl sitting next to me; her schedule changed also; she works as well; and can't meet her new scheduled time either....!

The new FA came over; after I had asked the Techs several times to get him so I could speak to him.....he was very reluctant to help me....he said things change and people change!  Sometimes you have to roll with the punches!  WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!!!!!  I asked him if he knew that I worked and he said NO; he was not aware of that.  I asked him if he new what my availability was and if he was aware that I could not be here at that time; and he said NO; but I figured you could work it out.....!  HELLO.....ASK someone if they can be there at a certain time!!!!

Finally he changed it; but he wasn't happy.  He changed the schedule of the girl next to me too.  Personally; I don't care if he was happy or not....I was extremely upset....!  He might as well be too!  I was also very upset that all the Techs and Nurses knew that he changed my (our) times; and they didn't stand up to him and say anything.  They all knew that he changed it; and they all knew I couldn't come in at that time; I asked them; but they didn't say a word to him about it!!!  Wow....watching out for your patients......I see where I stand now......NOT HAPPY WITH MY  DAVITA AT ALL!!!!!!

They pushing that fact that I have to be here by 2:00 PM.....so I can get cannulated and get my treatment started......OK DAVITA......watch the havoc I raise when you aren't ready for me @ 2:00 PM.....and I have to sit and wait....!  NOT HAPPY WITH MY DAVITA AT ALL!!!!!!!!!

:thumbup;     Bunch of ##$¥+... Ridiculous, and glad he changed it in the end. Well done for standing up for yourself. On the other hand, I'm impressed it took 5 years for something like this to happen.

Love, Cas

That's rough, sorry, good thing you stood up to the change.  D is enough of a time drain from work...

The nurse tried to get me to move into an AM shift, and I tested it out and figured out that it would not work for me, but in retrospect I bet they just try to fill the AM shifts to make less work at the end of the day when they are more burned out.  (Because they make their people work 12+ hour shifts instead of figuring out how to have two shifts of techs...)

Wow. For some reason what pops into my head is  "Who Moved My Cheese? -- Dialysis Edition".

You know, the book "Who Moved My Cheese?" that became a best seller (as far as I know) mostly from companies buying it in volume before downsizing. The point is that you have to take care of your own interests because nobody else is going to. And I agree with that part, but it's wrapped in a condescending and meandering story written at about 2nd grade reading level.

If they want to revitalize sales of WMMC?, maybe they can contract out with major dialysis providers. I sense a big opportunity.

Good for you, sticking up for yourself. Most likely it hadn't even crossed his mind that his customers have anything better to do than go to the center.

Still have my corporate issued pre-downsizing copy right on my bookshelf here at work.

Someone is going to be "last off" at the end of the day, and the clinic staff is hourly.   The more people they have on the last shift of the day, the later the probable off time of the last person.

But, that being said, morning shifts seem to be more popular at the clinic I use - the "booby prize" given to new patients was (before another clinic expended and many patients were transferred) was Tu/Th/Sat PM.  (which, fortunately, was also my first choice).   I do remember the FA stopping by once when I was an in-center patient asking "would it be OK if we move your start time up 30 minutes".  I told her it was fine, and she immediately handed me a printout with "Your start time is..." printed on it.  Somehow, I don't think she was asking.  I was very lucky when in-clinic as the available times fit my preferences and work schedule nicely.

Thanks for all the replys.......ever since I started going to this clinic; and was the main reason I chose it; was that the original Boss or "FA" of the facility new that I worked; and she would adjust / change my schedule so that I would be the last person off of the day.

When I started 5 years ago; the clinic was fairly new; and didn't have a full load on 3rd shift yet.  Me and 3 or 4 others; they they go almost a full shift.  When they got a new patient she would push me back; further and further to accommodate the new people, and me at the same time!  The later the better for me was GREAT!  They wanted the last person to be off by 7:00 PM so they could do the nightly stuff.

But now they want the last person to be taken off @ 6:30 PM; which is fine; except that NOW; the new schedule; the last person comes on @ 2:30 PM; and he will be running for 3 1/2 hours; and get off @ 6:00 PM.  So they have 1/2 hour to play with every day!

He only runs on Monday and Friday; and he was moved from the 2nd shift to the 3rd without being asked and he DOES NOT WORK; and he does NOT WANT that time schedule.....But the new guy won't change it!  I would love to come in @ 2:30 PM and leave @ 6:30 PM...!   OH WELL....like I said; I was happy with my center; but now.....not so much!

Of course; they aren't the only Dialysis Center in the world or in the area for that matter.  I could throw a rock; and hit 3 that I know of!
