Title: Moving house when on home haemodialysis
Post by: Sugarlump on December 08, 2014, 09:27:38 AM
We are about to start home haemo in January and they (the powers that be) are making noises about not moving house for 3 years?
Anyone else had experience of this or actually moved whilst on home haemo?
I couldn't possibly say whether or not I will move house in the next few years...who knows?

They told me that too when I was thinking of starting home hemo with Fresenius. Mainly (I thought) because of the money 'they' invest in the necessary changes in the house. But with Nxstage that's not needed. So I'd check if that's true for Nxstage too.

NB January!!!! Girl

If it's possible I might move next year if we have enough money and can find the right house that is suited to my mobility issues but
I am NOT putting off home haemo until then. I so much prefer Drew needling me and taking care of me (he does it better than the nurses) and
for last two weeks we have been doing haemo in our own little room, with nurses about if we have a problem, otherwise we just get on with it.
Being in control is quite a heady feeling (well Drew is in control mainly) but we have a very strong partnership that has weathered a lot of storms
and makes us very close.  :cuddle;

If necessary we would have to pay them to move the machine!!! or move to a different health authority!

@Cassie Baxter are bringing out a new portable machine similar to the NX stage, now about to trial it in various hospitals...if only it were ours!!!!

I so hope you'll find a solution. And I'm happy for you how far you've come in the end. I'll check over here how it works with moving with Nxstage, Maybe you could find out where Baxter is doing the trials?

Lots of luck, lots of love, Cas

ha ha ha!!!!
Only if it suits them and their purses....... :rofl;

psst. Didn't you know dialysis patients aren't supposed to go on holiday, attend weddings or funerals or move house. It's too inconvenient for them!!!!

I might, be facing this later this year... If I can sort out training on the new machine I'll need to learn (either Fresenius or Nxstage, together with my partner). AND we can find somewhere suitable to rent.  I'll get some help from family, but they, especially my mother,  have better ideas on what's 'best for me'. Which causes me stress!
