Over this past Thanksgiving week; my center changed its normal "Friday' from the normal M-W-F to Saturday; for one week only! I understand, they wanted that FRIDAY to spend w/ family or go shopping; I understand; I'm reasonable...OK...so I had to rearrange my entire work schedule...but OK! Went along with it; so do everyone else!
But; we had 3 people from out of town; at our center on that "Saturday"; three people, they had NEVER seen before; and at one point; we had 12 patients hooked up; and only one Tech on the floor (watching TV in an unoccupied chair); NO NURSES....they were all in the break room; eating pie and watching TV. They said that they had someone posted at the break room door; just in case; to listen.....listen my ass.....why aren't they watching!!!!! Especially those three new people; they know nothing about how there bodies react to treatment or medications.....I am very disappointed in my center.....very disappointed indeed!

Wow...that is certainly unsafe to say the least. :sarcasm; :sarcasm; :sarcasm;
I would have documented everything - staffing levels at least every 15 minutes during my shift, any alarms left for more than a minute without good reason, any instance where patient care appeared to be compromised. Then I would have dropped a copy of the document to my local ESRD network as soon as my shift was over. There is ZERO excuse for this and I would have raised holy hell.
