Hello! I'm 57 and have had type one diabetes since I was 13. Married 33 years. My neph says that I'm about a year away from dialysis and am having a hard time figuring out what type ( hemo or pd ) to use, so far I'm leaning on pd. I work full time as a toll collector on the New Jersey Turnpike. Thanks for having me.

Welcome Bada Bing -
I'm a 44 y/o type 1 diabetic that started on PD about a month ago. I've had my struggles with it, but still feel it was the right choice for me. I'm sure glad I found this place though. It's been invaluable. :2thumbsup;

Bada Bing, Welcome to ihatedialysis.com. You are in the right place my friend, many members have come here asking questions and finding answers, i sure hope you do the same. I was on Hemo for 3 years until i made the switch to PD and it was the best decision i ever made (i just wish i would've made it sooner) ;) We are the best support group out there and we are always willing to listen, advise and help you out any way we can. :welcomesign; I too am a diabetic and after much thought and learning found out that PD was not an option for me. The nephrologist told me it was like eating 16 milky way candy bars a day. So he put the halt to that one. I am now looking towards using nxstage and dialyzing at home.
