My first name is Guy. But I go by my middle name, Craig.
I have been ESRD since 1993. Unknown reason for kidney failure (maybe something from Viet Nam in 1972?)
Peritoneal dialysis at home and work for 3 1/2 years doing exchanges by hand. Cadaveric transplant in 1997.
Springtime pneumonia in 2011 caused loss of transplant. Chose to go with hemodialysis this time. Crossing my
fingers for a second transplant in Augusta, Georgia. Have learned a lot about hemo and always ready to learn more.
I'm not all that impressed with the kidney doctors I have this time. Finding myself spending a lot of my time having
to push them to communicate with me and with each other. I want one more shot at a transplant!
I was a spook with the Army Security Agency in Viet Nam, reporting to the National Security Agency. Got out and
taught Computer Information Systems and Department Head at Savannah Technical College for State of Georgia.
Retired from there in 2003 after 31 years service. BA in History; BBA in Computer Information Systems. Graduated
from Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California with a diploma in North Vietnamese.

Welcome! :welcomesign;
Hopefully, GeraldLively will come and say howdy to you as well. He has a similar Vietnam background and I think you two will hit it off or at least give us some good stories. :beer1;

Welcome to ihd! You may not be impressed by your kidney docs but they should be impressed by YOU. Thank you for your service! Maybe they should be told to either help, lead or get the heck out of the way! Good luck!

Welcome Guy to IHD. I too am a fellow vet. Not Nam but hubby was. He lost left K to cancer in '97 and now battles recurring bladder cancer, has bad copd. All related to NAM (agent orange). But he does not give up and neither will I. Most vets I know won't give up either - its in our DNA. You are strong! You are welcome here bud!
