My Social Worker asked me to post a question.
If you peddle or spin while on dialysis (like ride a bike only you are in the chair) what is the best brand to get? The one we have no one likes.
Brand, where to buy it, cost etc.
Thank you! :thumbup;

Now my mind is blown. And yet, what a good idea. I am imagining one of those bicycles you lie down on... get it up off the floor so the front wheel spins freely, lose the back wheel entirely. A job for a home-handyperson and a home dialysis set up perhaps?

Our center has one but I've only seen one person use it. Once he was hooked up, he put his feet down and sat there and peddled.

Don't turn or twist the arm with the fistula while on dialysis .
Stay still, don't move or even talk when the blood pressure cuff is in action.
Unclench the fist of the arm that the needles are in.
Pow, the dialysis tech, uncrosses my (at the ankles) crossed feet.
Did question all of the above. :boxing;
All were / had plausible answers. ::)
All did make sense. :bow;
BUT :oops;
how can one do the 'spinning' as mentioned in this thread, and comply with the request 'NOT' to do, as in my opening statements! :Kit n Stik;
What am I overlooking in this event? :secret;
Truth of the matter is:..................
This should have been in the original spinning thread, as this thread is about type of or brand, sorry.

There has been research on cycling while on hemodialysis before I began (1982).
However ignorance at the center staff level is not unexpected.

Rerun, I used to cycle during dialysis, pretty close to three hours. This was at Satellite centers in the SF and Monterey Bay Areas. I asked my current Fresenius center near Austin if they would get a cycle for me to use, and they dragged some sorry excuse for a cycle out of storage. I told them, before hand, what type of cycle works best with a dialysis chair, but the didn't listen. I even offered to buy and donate an appropriate cycle to the center. But they wanted me to use the ancient piece of crap they had. I did a couple of times to show them why what they had wouldn't work, and ended up blowing my knee out on the damned thing. :thumbdown;

What brand do you recommend?

What scares me is the companies attaching a generator and expecting us to power the dialysis machine. Added to talkers list of admonitions would be pedal faster your clearance is too low. I am attached to the system for too bloody long as it is. If I cane sleep for two hours it cuts my 4 hour season in half.

In no way do I want to inject politics into this but that sounds like Agenda 21 to me. Next will come the lemming hamster wheels.
