Title: Tech11 saying HOWDY!
Post by: Tech11 on March 22, 2007, 08:27:30 PM
Hello everyone. Am going by the name tech11 because I have been a tech in dialysis for 11 years. I have seen many patients come and go. Everyone is different and I feel each dailysis for each is different. I work for Fresenius. I have been at the same clinic all my 11 years. We will be moving to a newly built clinic soon (I hope) have been hearing this for years.  Our clinic is so old and out dated.
I enjoy my job very much and do my very best to give my patients the best care and dialysis treatment as I know how. We are always being told, not to get personal with the patients. How can you not get personal when you see them 3 times a week for years, even some of their families. I see my patients more than the Doctor on staff does.I have always treated my patients as if it was my own mother, husband, sister, father or even if it was myself.
I hope to get to meet alot of you here and maybe some other tech or nurses.
Am from Texas so a big Howdy to you all !

Welcome to the site.  It is always good to hear from a technician who treats people on a daily basis.  We have an area for workers and areas for learning about dilaysis. Feel free to read at your leisure!

Thank you kitkatz for your welcome. I found the area for workers. I had forgotten to say that am a female when I posted my intro. I hope to be able to post often and learn alot from posting and reading. As you know not every treatment is the same. Some go good and some not so good.

Hi Tech11,

Welcome to the board. It is good to get the other side of the story from the dialysis workers rather the patients. Glad to have you here.

Cheers

Just adding my welcome to the ones you have already received.  :welcomesign;   Your joining our community is a clear indication that you really care about the job that you are doing - might I call it an awesome job.  You know, we are really on life-support - those of us on dialysis.  It makes it all a little more palatable when the people dealing with us see us as persons who have emotional needs along with medical ones.   You have the power to make this hateful experience a bit better for us.
There is much to read here.  But don't just read; we also look forward to hearing from you.  Your input is very important to us.

A Big Howdy to you , Tech11!   :welcomesign;  to the community, sure you will like it here and learn lots from our standpoint.  We wish you were all a bit 'friendlier' in the units, it is more comfortable there then for the patients!
