Title: Rant: Doctors Who Do Not Communicate
Post by: PrimeTimer on July 26, 2014, 07:15:28 PM
:rant; My husband does Home Hemo Dialysis. Would we be right to be just a little angry that my husband's Nephrologist did not ask him or even discuss with him switching from the NxStage System One cycler to the new NxStage "S" cycler?? Long story short, we found out about the switch when a courier called wanting to arrange a delivery time! Maybe this is no big deal but, with so much of our life not being in our control as it is, things like this make me irate. And whether or not the new cycler is better or going to be a good thing, in my opinion, is irrelevant. This isn't like some special occasion when someone wants to surprise you with a gift-wrapped present! This is my husband's health we're talking about! And as his Care Partner and Spouse, whatever affects HIM affects ME, so it would have been nice to have had a discussion ahead of time before changes were made. Instead, we got a phonecall from a courier...when earlier that same day he had an appt with his Nephrologist and she didn't say a darn word about it!  >:(

I would be irked too.  I question EVERYTHING.  Luckily for me, my husband's nurses and docs think it is a good thing that I advocate for him so strongly.  I even question when they give us different tape!  LOL

Communication is so important.  You have a right to know if there is going to be a change.  I would nicely discuss it with the neph and your nurses.
