My husband was diagnosed with something called IGA nephropathy resulting in renal failure 2 years ago, at the age of 30. We had been married a little over a year at the time and needless to say, his diagnosis turned our lives upside down. We are approaching our 3rd wedding anniversary and in the past 2 years, we have had our ups and down. I look forward to meet other young caretakers and also young renal patients.

Hi Mrstrekkkie84 and welcome to IHD. It is hard when you are young. What does a transplant look like for his future? Can he still hold down a job? Some can and come can't. What state are you from?

Hello mrstrekkie, and a big :welcomesign; to ihd.com!
Myself and Blokey had only been married for about eighteen months when we discovered he had kidney related health problems in his early thirties. Grrr ... it does mess up future plans somewhat! Pop in often to vent or laugh.

Thank you for the warm welcome. We live in Houston, TX. The Hubby was on peritoneal dialysis until recently, but had to quit because of recurring peritonitis. 2 days ago, on our 3rd anniversary, he underwent a procedure to remove the PD catheter and replace it with a hemodialysis catheter. Unfortunately, there were some complications and we are in the ICU right now. Renal failure and dialysis have been the dark cloud hanging over our otherwise happy marriage. But I am glad to know that there are other young couples dealing with the same issue. I am praying to get this over with soon so we can get back to our lives.
