My name is Lauren and I am from NY. My husband was just recently diagnosed with end stage renal failure. Previously he had been living with iga nephropathy but it became worse quickly. He just started PD today (had his cath put in 2 days ago) and feels like a new man! He hasn't felt this good since before our son was born in 2010. I'm looking forward to browsing all of the posts on this website; this looks like a wonderful resource, especially for the spouses and caregivers involved.

Welcome, foleydunk! This is a good place to be when you need answers, honesty and support. I am a care-giving spouse, my husband uses the NxStage System One Cycler for home hemo. It's a lot of work and we are having to adjust to a new way of life but it is doable and we believe works out better for us than him going to a center 3 times a week. He wants to continue working fulltime and so far, thanks to short daily hemodialysis 5 times a week, he feels up to it.
Anyway, there are a lot of subjects to browse or if you are ever in a hurry, just ask your question, state your need or vent, whichever comes first because believe me, you will do all three at some point...and that's what this site is for! :thumbup;

Hello Lauren, and :welcomesign; to ihd.com! I'm a wifey too, although my Blokey has now had a transplant. This site has been invaluable for me, in both my darkest, most miserable moments, and my best.
