Hello(: My name is Heather, I'm 20 years old and from Washington state. Dialysis is a very new thing for me. I started it at the end of February this year. So I'm very excited to have found this website. I'm not totally sure what I'm doing yet or what certain things even mean since my diagnoses was so random and unexpected. I actually was hospitalized for emergency hypertension for two weeks, took about week in the ICU before they realized my kidneys were failing. Hopefully this website will answer some questions and ease all my nerves.
A couple facts about me.. I attend in-clinic nocturnal 3X a week for 8 hours, diagnosed with ESRD and IgA nephroapathy. Using a catheter in my chest, only for temporary use. Born with ureter reflux which I had two surgeries for when I was 6 months and 2 years old and had not been hospitalized since for kidney issues. Also became legally blind in my left eye because of my hypertension becoming so out of hand.

Hi! I'm glad you found us and decided to join the site. Please feel free to ask any questions, and we will do our best to give you our best answers. I am sorry you've had to go through this at such a young age. I am happy, though, that you have access to in-clinic nocturnal dialysis. That's not a treatment option that is available as widely as we'd like, so congratulations for THAT! :thumbup;

Hello Heather. Welcome to the site :flower; I am 32 years old now, but was 21 when 1st diagnosed. I am sorry to hear that all this has happened to you so suddenly, but you sound positive & I promise that is the most important part of the puzzle when it comes to dealing with all this confusing dialysis info. I would be happy to answer any questions you have and maybe we can learn a few things together since I only started PD 2/1/14. Best wishes.
