I've only been on manual PD for two weeks. When I first started I drained in about 17 minutes. The last few exchanges it has taken 25-30 minutes to drain. Everything looks fine. Any ideas about why this is happening?

Could be fibrin? Ask your nurse, that would be solved with some heparin in a bag. It's some fibres in your peritoneum that make draining sluggish (if I remember correctly)
Good luck, Cas

I add Heparin to my heater bag every two weeks just as a preventive. Works for me.

Sometimes its a postional thing with the catheter placement. Try shifting around in different postions to see if you drain better in certain postions. I experienced this both doing manuals and while on the cycler. Lean back, lean to the sides, pull knees up to chest and etc.

I would think that 25-30 is actually not bad. I always gave myself 30 minutes to be sure I got everything out.

I usually give it 25 - 30 minutes to make sure it's all out. Most of it is drained within 15 minutes at the moment. I did have about a week where it took a good 45 minutes and I had to keep changing positions like propping a foot up, laying down, standing up, leaning, etc.. But normal for me is my about 25 - 30 minutes while sitting at a desk on my computer to kill time. If I need to be done quicker I'll stop it at about 20 minutes, as long as I draw out what seems to be normal for me. I don't retain any fluid and still urinate but a green bag will still pull out an extra 5/600 or so cc's and a yellow doesn't really pull any extra fluid out, perhaps another 1 or 200 cc's. I've kind of learned to estimate my bag amounts so I know when I am drained.
