Title: Disability and retirement
Post by: kitkatz on February 05, 2014, 10:46:46 PM
It is official as of 12/21/2013 I am retired as a teacher for Fontana Unified School District.
I have been working on disability paperwork and such since June when I was taken off of work due to dialysis and ESRD.
I have money now coming in through CalSTRS- California state teachers disability until I am 60 and then they will retire me into the system.
I also have disability insurance that I paid for through work and they are making pay up to 70% for two years, then onto long term disability.
I realized my insurance was in limbo and I had earned insurance for retirement years.  I took a six year health insurance package with everything for now.
Since I had major surgery in January it would be a good idea to have that continuous coverage.
I signed retirement letter and went to benefits and worked everything out today.

The paperwork has been an adventure but it is completed.

You must have had your Take Down surgery?  How did that go?
