Happy New Year everyone...I'm a new member from the "mistake on the lake" Cleveland, OH. Currently, I have been on home PD dialysis for 6 mos. now. The process is working out very well for me . I did go through the transplant
evaluation and unfortunately I am not a candidate due primarily to both heart and artery issues. Looks like the PD machine and I will be close friends hopefully for a long time.. I have been both angry and depressed over this kidney failure. I retired after busting my butt for 35 year and looked forward to enjoying retirement, in good health,.at this point that is not happening. I look forward to continue learning from this site

Hi there June, and welcome. And don't think because you are on dialysis you can't enjoy your retirement! I traveled quite a bit while doing PD, including 2 trips to Walt Disney World, 2 trips to Salt Lake and a week in the back woods of Idaho/Yellowstone Park. And I was only on PD for 2.5 years before I got my transplant. Remember, we dialyze to live, not live to dialyze. It may take some advance planning to get supplies where you need them, but it certainly can be done.
