Title: Houdini killed by peritonitis

I just learned that the great magician Houdini was not killed from one of his magic tricks, but rather from untreated peritonitis which was caused from being punched in the stomach several times.

Pertinonitis caused by an utreated ruptured appendix.  Sad way to go.

My mother had peritonitis when her appendix ruptured years ago.  She said it wasn't the most pleasant experience, as after they removed the appendix, she was left open so that they could drain the infection.  Mom and I talked about it when I was in the hospital with my own peritonitis infection.  She thinks that where the dialysis unit is now, is where she was when she had her appendix removed, but she's not sure.
