Title: Statues from around the world

http://haha.nu/funny/strange-statues-around-the-world
The link is titled strange statues from around the world but I think compelling would be a better word. I've seen some of these - 10 or fewer - but I think I would have stopped to look at, really look at, any one of these. One I didn't see is the smallest statue in the world in Stockholm, but they did have the Fremont Troll in Seattle. Speaking of Seattle we have a new sculpture garden/park adjacent to downtown, along the water.  It will be a great venue for art in the future - seeing these pics makes me excited to think what will be in the Olympic Sculpture garden years from now.

Right now the sculpture park features pretty predictable sculpture from the last 20 years but in the future I am sure the venue will hold exciting new sculpture.  One thing I do really like inthe new park is an old growth spruce nurse log that is in it's own climate controlled environment.  Natures sculpture has pride of place.

Thanks for posting this, Bill.  I've only seen two of these in person. (Freemont Troll, and the one in Salt Lake City of the woman swinging the little girl). Bend has become quite the "roundabout" city.  I refer to them as traffic circles.  The circles have become part of the "Art in Public Places" program here. There must be at least 8 or 9 by now. Some have become quite the topic for debate among locals.  All are great to gaze upon.  Perhaps I'll post some pics.
