Title: 18 months since transplant
Post by: lainiepop on November 30, 2013, 11:48:03 AM
Hi everyone, just a quick update. Im 18mths post tx now, had clinic last week and all good with creatinine stable at 70. Was thinking back to this time last year earlier, dont know if anyone remembers but i was v poorly with a d and v bug, couldnt even keep water down, so nephs told me to come in to be put on a drip, well on way i suffered a seizure (hubby driving!) and next 4 days are lost or a blur. They thought i had cmv, but i didnt, it was the chemical imbalance in my body that caused the seizure, then they raised my salt too quickly, causing me to be unresponsive then completely incoherent, i thought i was a child, didnt know who hubby was, was shouting, apparently ripped all my drips out (only found that out when i realised my arm was bruised to bits, theyd had to put a neck one in so i couldnt get it so easy!). Neph sent me for ct scans and told hubby and parents brain damage was likely to be permanent as most confusion goes within 24hrs. Well fast forward a couple days and i just came out of it, was v weak tho for about a month after and had to gain weight as lost so much that week. But since then, apart from a urine infection (which im v prone to) in february this year i been really well and felt good. Today ive been v sniffy and feel bit rough, but im gonna get colds, especially with teacher hubby, son at school and 2 yr old who puts everything in her mouth including shoes lol!! My dad (donor) is fine too, he turned 68 in september, looking forward to seeing him and mum in a week when they come up to see up my sons school natuvity :)
Next appointment is in 8 weeks, so am looking forward to christmas now.
Hope everyone is doing ok
Marie xx

Sounds like you're doing ok. That incident sounds scary but it's good you got through it. I have no kids but I spend a lot of time with my nieces. There was a virus going around school for the 5th grader. Headaches and stomach. I caught it, the 11th grader caught it, but the 5th grader didn't get sick. Schools are such germ factories.

Good to hear from you lainiepop and glad you are doing well. Glad you got over your problems, sounded like it could have been really serious. Thanks for stopping in and saying hi.
