Title: Starting training for home hemodialysis
Post by: komomai on October 19, 2013, 10:29:22 PM
My wife and I have started a 2 month training course from the Japanese hospital that I go to.  Had to show them how to scrub my hands and starting priming my own machine.  The machine that I'll be using is the Nikkso DBB 27 dialysis machine, my biggest concern is the language hopefully the menu can switch over to english.  I have emailed the company to see if that's possible.  Although my wife is Japanese she might not be there all the time and sometimes things get lost in translation.  Oh yeah I don't use the needles I have a tunnel catheter.  I discussed with my doctor about doing dialysis 6 times a week at 3 hours a session.

A question about dialysis chairs, could I use a recliner instead?  Looking at a model that has a motorized recline.  They don't sell dialysis chairs on Okinawa, and I found recliners at the local US military exchange on base.

I'm also the first patient to start home dialysis in Okinawa, so they are taking pictures of all my training.  Can't wait to start in home treatment. :bandance;

Good for you. I hope it goes smoothly. Yes you can use a recliner. Any comfortable chair will do .Just remember it may get some blood on it.

I would think I would get some really large sheets to put over the recliner. Then you can put a clean one on and change them and wash them. It's really hard to clean a lot of recliners.
