Title: hello...new guy in south Florida.
Post by: jdenson on October 19, 2013, 03:06:03 PM
How's it going. I'm new to the site and dialysis. I am 37 and have had kidney issues since 9 years old. I have been stage 5 since February and had my fistula created then as well. Due to having "horrible veins" my fistula was to be created in two steps. After creating the fistula in feb I had a "transposition" to move the fistula to the top of my arm. I began my dialysis just this past wednesday in the hospital. I had my second treatment thursday and begin my In-center Monday. I'm looking forward to reading, asking questions and learning here on this site.

:welcomesign; jdenson!  Lots of wonderful people here.  Hope everything is going well with dialysis.  It really does become routine after a while.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  Someone here has experienced almost everything you can think of.  Looking forward to seeing more posts from you!

Hi, jdensen! WELCOME!

Please read my comment on peritoneal dialysis (PD) here: http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=29683.0 (http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=29683.0) (look for the comment from Vitality). I don't know if your doctors have presented you with the option of PD, but since you are new to dialysis, you should consider it. Here is a good overview of PD from Davita, a large network of dialysis care centers: http://www.davita.com/treatment-options/home-peritoneal-dialysis/what-is-peritoneal-disease-/a-brief-overview-of-peritoneal-dialysis/t/5483 (http://www.davita.com/treatment-options/home-peritoneal-dialysis/what-is-peritoneal-disease-/a-brief-overview-of-peritoneal-dialysis/t/5483)
