Hi all! I was wondering if anyone ever developed a rash on their fistula arm? It started a week or so ago and is getting worse. It looks like raised bumps and is only around the fistula itself. I have tried switching tape and band aids, but that doesn't change the reaction. It is almost like I break out wherever the tubing touches my skin. That makes no sense to me as I have been on D for 7 months and never had this reaction. Anyone experience this? I have to stop by my unit tomorrow and will ask my HD nurse then, but was hoping to hear from you guys first. Thank you!

My wife had a reaction and it looked infected but we believe it was just a rash. We eneded up using a catheter for a week until it resolved. WE switched from betadine to the chloro prep sticks and no bandaids. we use guaze then island type dressings. So far she is ok with it.

Interesting info on the antibiotic ointment.
I also recently developed a rash too and it was due to the dry Winter air here in the North. We have had abysmally cold weather as many have and it got very bad. So did the callouses on my feet. When we had a thaw for a few days it went away. When the temp dropped and the in house humidity dropped again, it got worse again.
I've been using Aveno and it's tolerable.
