Title: Mum's caregiver
Post by: MimieJay on September 30, 2013, 05:46:08 AM
Hello IHD!

My name is Mimie from Malaysia. I am a caregiver to my mum who started dialysis in center on June 28 2013. I'm still adjusting to my routines so I may not be frequent on the site but I hope to learn more on caring. She started dialysis on AV fistula this month however her arm swells a lot. Tomorrow we will found out whether she will use catheter again or not.  There is so many information to digest..it's overwhelming. I love this forum a lot because it ease my worries a little.

Welcome !! It's hard to be a caregiver. can take over your whole life. My hubby had a TX in 2002 , it just failed 3 mo ago. I worked 28 years as a clinic nurse until 5 mo ago, I retired.  Don't know how I did it all when working, or how people do it without all the extra training I have had. Good luck to you !!!

I'm a carer to my mum, too...

She has Renal Failure, and is on PD... She also has Parkinson's Disease which complicates things somewhat....

Hope we get to chat soon...

Thank for the warm welcome everyone,

I wonder that too  nursey66, I am a full time caregiver so I don't know how others do it while working. Rerun, I actually type in "I hate dialysis" while being frustrated on not being able to find informations. I wanted to know if anyone could relate to me, and I find the site! I hope you're doing better than me, Darth..mum give me a hard time sometimes.

Mum is back on catheter, and will be meeting a surgeon to reduce the swelling. Other than that, she seems fine.

Mine's in hosp. battling a UTI right now....
