Happy birthday IHD.com in August.
This site has been around for eight years now.
What a superb help to dialysis patients and to any one with renal disease or loss this site has been.
What ONE man started as a way to have his say about dialysis and how much of his life it had eaten, has grown into a legacy.
Epoman left us six years ago.
IHD.com has continued to be strong and to help many people.
Let's celebrate eight years!

Thank you for being a vital part of my life

Hard to believe it has been 8 years! :yahoo; I joined 7 years ago and I thank God for all I have learned during those years. My hand has been held, my tears have been dried, and my prayers answered --- all by people I may never meet. But, I know you like you lived next door. I am glad I was able to be here before we lost Epoman. His would be thrilled that his vision has not only carried on but grown beyond what he must have dreamed. Thanks to Okarol and Sluff for keeping the dream alive. And thanks to all the members who make this an incredible site.
Happy Birthday :birthday; to IHD. :beer1; here is to many more!

Happy birthday to IHD this August and best wishes !
Some of the information here on IHD influenced me in my decision to keep myself pre-dialysis for as long as possible.
I keep strictly to my vegetarian diet and drink exactly the same amount of liquid (only one cup of coffee and lots of water during each day)
every single day and I go for as many walks as possible to keep my Urea (bun) and Creatinine as steady as possible - and it assists my “two little fighters” to keep going.
I am very pleased about the result this month because I have now been in a pre-dialysis state of 10-12 % kidney function for seven years.
I was very traumatized and it was a complete horror-nightmare when this nephrologist informed me in august 2006 that I only had 6 months until dialysis
and he wanted to start with my dialysis-preparation straight away.
I refused and wanted to ask some other doctors first. But the same prognosis was repeated over the years by a few other nephrologists and they could not even advice me about my diet.
I consulted all these nephrologists because I wanted to make absolutely sure that there is nothing they could advice me to keep my kidneys going,
except what I already had worked out for myself:
to keep my “two little fighters” going I need to keep my strict vegetarian diet (every day exactly the same food and precisely the same amount of food,
go for my walks and the fact that I keep myself to my minimum weight and drink every day exactly the same amount of liquids at around the same time.
Perhaps I was just lucky or perhaps it is just the nature of “my” chronic proliferative glomerulonephritis, I don’t know,
but I try my very best to keep my “two little fighters” happy.
I send my good luck wishes to everyone here on IHD and hopefully
some clever (!!!) Doctor discovers soon a body-friendly replacement for dialysis and transplant !
Best wishes to all from Kristina.

Kristina, it is SO wonderful to see your post and even better to hear that you are still pre-dialysis! I am thrilled by this news! I hope you continue to do well, and I hope you post again soon. :cuddle;
