Notable athletes involved in organ donation

DALLAS The kidney transplant between former Dallas Cowboys teammates Everson Walls and Ron Springs adds them to this list of sports figures
who have been involved in organ donations, according to the Dallas-based Southwest Transplant Alliance:

_ Greg Ostertag (NBA), donated kidney to his sister in 2002 while playing for Utah Jazz

_ Chris Klug (snowboarding), competed in 2002 Olympics 19 months after receiving liver

_ Erik Compton (PGA), received heart transplant as a child in 1992; turned pro in 2001

_ Sean Elliott (NBA), received a kidney from his brother in 1999; returned to NBA in 2000

_ Missy Ryan (rowing), donated a kidney to her brother in 1996, won bronze at 2000 Olympics

_ Bob Simmons (college football), received a kidney from wife in 1998 while coaching Oklahoma State; returned to job

_ Oscar Robertson (NBA), donated a kidney to his daughter in 1997

_ Frank Torre (MLB), received heart transplant in 1996; now on kidney waiting list

_ Mickey Mantle (MLB), received a liver in 1995

_ Ed Farmer (MLB), received a kidney in 1991
