Post by: lynnrlpd1 on June 25, 2013, 07:48:35 PM
How much in  epo epogen shots do you get a week.  I started at 10,000 and was increased to 12000 and now 14000.  Wondering what other people get that do pd

How much do you pay for it, and does your hemoglobin go up and stay up??

It's covered under my medical insurance, but I understand it's about $2000 a vial. And no, my hemoglobin is a crazy roller coaster that reacts sharply to changes in my dosages. I'm planning on seeing it drop again with the change from weekly to every other week dosages.

I get 40,000 per week. Due to the high quantity, they have to use two syringes, so I get poked TWICE!  However, it appears to be working because my lab results are steady and within the acceptable range.

1000 micrograms of Epoetin Beta   every 2 weeks, hubby is on over night cycler. It has been a long slog getting the HB up to 10.5. Six months ago the HB was 7 and my husband was so tired. Apparently it takes a long while to kick in. The difference is amazing.

Henry P Snicklesnorter will be so proud of me for getting it right. OK Henry

I get 10,000 every other week, so it costs me $129.00 per month.

I wish I was on epo shots again.  They have me on Zemplar 3 times a week, and I'm anemic.   It's a drag.  I don't have the energy to write or walk like I do on a regular basis.  They'll probably put me back on shots once they test my hemoglobin with the once a month doctor visits and blood tests, but until then, it's a drag.  The fight to stay healthy never ends.  :boxing; :boxing; :boxing; :boxing;

I was up to 25,000 units once a week right before I got my transplant.  It was a vial and a quarter weekly, two syringes.  Luckily, I had plenty of "flab" to "jab".  Never had to pay separately as in the US, injectable drugs are in the Medicare bundle.

I only had EPO when I started dialysis. I think I only received 10000 units every week. My hemoglobin recovered after about 4 doses. I haven't had any EPO since that time. My hemoglobin was 14.1 on my last labs. It has steadily increased from 12 over the last year without EPO. My iron on the other hand...ha, I can't keep that in line. I get an iron infusion every six months since I can't keep my iron levels stable.
