WALTERS, Okla. – We have an amazing story of generosity and good fortune following a kidney transplant.
A woman in Walters, Oklahoma, met a stranger from Macon, Georgia, through the internet and decided to “Pay It Forward” and donate her kidney to save the Georgia woman’s life.
In the process she may have saved her own life.
Christina Stonecypher is a 26-year old wife from Georgia who badly needed a new kidney.
She got the call from matchingdonors.com from 38-year old Christina Hesler who is a police officer and mother from Walters.
A friend of hers died after a battle with kidney disease so she decided to get tested to be a donor.
During the testing process, she was stunned to learn she has cervical cancer.
Now Hesler will get life-saving treatment and she’ll still be able to donate her kidney in a scheduled surgery Friday.
