Hello Rude Dialysis Neighbor,
Yeah, it's me again, Skinny Radio Boy. I give you a less than enthusiastic look as I pass you by because I know for the next three hours I'll have to listen to whatever mindless crap you'll be watching as you blast your television volume with no regard for the patients in your vicinity.
You are not elderly. You are not hearing impaired. You are simply a jerk.
I have spoken to you repeatedly on numerous occasions, rather judiciously I might add, that I cannot enjoy my movie when you do this. My sister was kind enough to bestow on her big brother a really cool and theraputic portable DVD player so he can pause his entertainment when nurses won't stop prodding and poking him.
I use what's called "headphones" because I am considerate of those around me. You refuse.
"13 Days" and "Stranger Than Fiction"?? Ruined. The 2nd Season of "Entourage"?? Tarnished.
I have even swallowed some dignity and asked a nearby tech to speak to you.
Oh sure, you obliged. But once they relocate across the clinic, you crank it back up again as loudly as is humanly possible.
My absolute favorite day was when you did this, turned in my direction, and flipped me off. You then mouthed the words, "F*** off."
I burst out laughing it was so blatantly absurd. And so absolutely you.
Now I have reached a point of no return. I have armed myself with a technological device known as a "Universal Remote."
This device will return the decibal balance to the clinic by turning your TV off. Or muting it. Or simply turning on the blue DVD screen. It's totally up to my personal whim.
I will be stealth in my actions. My acting ability will be at full stength. I imagine you'll call over a tech to ask what's wrong, but to no avail.
I control your universe Mr. Rude Dialysis Neighbor. F*** me?
No sir, quite frankly, f*** you.
Thank you and good night.

Go Stac, go!
:2thumbsup;
-
That is the best ! :clap;
Power to the People, especially those with universal remotes ! :rofl;
-
Seize the moment..Wish I was a fly on the wall to see that. :2thumbsup;
-
:rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
That is great, now if they made a remote to stop neighborhood farting.

Some people are so rude! I hope that remote works. It will be fun to see the jerk's response!
I am surprised your dialysis unit allows that noise. Jenna's center had a rule requiring headsets.
The only noise in there was the constant beeping of machines, but after a while she could
tune those out. If it were me I would get a petition together and see if other's support a
similar rule.
-
What a rude ass@#$%. Go for th universal remote. :thumbup; :clap; I can't believe that the staff there will allow one person to make it uncomfortable for others. Most plas you have to wear hadphones. There was one man at theunit that huby was t that wuld bring in a radio and turn the volume up loud. He was told he either had to use headphones or leave the radio home. I would lke to see his reaction when you turn him off.
-
Any chance of sneaking in a video of him the first time you turn him off? I'd love to watch!
-
I was going to suggest a squirt gun, but I like your choice best. I Love It!!
:popcorn;
-
:clap; Stacy, I love your way of dealing with situations! You are my hero! Glad you came up with a real winner~ keep up your great sense of humor! ;D
-
Stacy, this is GREAT. Can't wait to hear the results >:D
-
Woohooo, damn Stacy, i sure wish you were in my "neighborhood" when i was on Hemo. We could've literally cleaned up the "hood" ya know what i'm sayin' ;) you go boy, do what'cha got to do, love the letter i could almost smell the attitude *snaps fingers* Right on right on... :2thumbsup;
-
Oh a video of this would be a YouTube hit for sure!!
What's the saying? Don't get mad - get EVEN? hahaha!
This is priceless.. hope it works.
Our unit also has a headphone policy, though the nurses sometimes have the volume up on a TV at the end of the day when a game show or the news is on, or once during the cricket (the boss is a sports fan!). LOL.
In general people are all pretty good about noise... can't believe this person is such an inconsiderate jerk. You'd think someone having to deal with dialysis would be more considerate of others.. sigh!
-
Wait until you have to share a TV that three other people are watching and they all want to watch the "game"! You go!
-
I know how you feel because at my unit we each have our own TV's but they are mounted on the ceiling and everyone has the same remote and the same TV's. The remotes are all universal so guess what that means??
That's right!! :banghead; :banghead; :banghead; :banghead;
Channel Surfers Beware! I WILL yell out "STOP CHANGING MY CHANNEL!!" Lol and then attempt to change THEIR channel!!!!! >:D >:D >:D
-
I'm surprised to hear these things are still happening. In the old days we had one lousy TV with very limited channel selections shared by more than 3 patients. Now and then commonsense-challenged gentleman like you are describing tormented us. Nowadays I thought the entertainment system has been improved to headstyle-only personal TV in most HD centers.
-
The odd thing is the hospital has personal TV's but for some reason the Self Care unit which is supposed to be better .. is worse when it comes to the TV's :(
-
lol angie I think that's funny.. I mean yes it would so piss you off when some guy across the room points his remote just the wrong way and you get some channel change you don't want... I can also picture the yelling.
Our unit only has I think 2 remotes, so they tend to wander around from chair to chair.. usually when a nurse or an aide is able to find it and pick it up and give to whoever wants it. I never watch the TV so I don't care (god bless my Ipod) but amusingly enough the remote was on my table today for like 3 hours before someone took it (and I told them they could take it home for all I cared).
I still can't wait to hear what happens with Stacy (without an E) :)
-
Please let us know how it went... tooooo funny.. ;D :2thumbsup; :clap;

Ya it is expected in my unit for people to change the channel but it is the ones that change it every 10 min while you are into one of those really good shows you only get into when you have to sit for a few hours at the same time so many times a week. I am into Jericho right now since I am on evenings and there are so many cliff hangers that I don't want anyone changing the channel at integral parts ;)
Also there is a nurse who is into the show 24 so she pulls out the plug that makes sound only go to the headphone jack. When she pulls it the whole unit hears that one TV. That way she can go about her job and not miss her favourite show lol. Worse than the patients :P
-
:clap; Go Stacy, I love your idea and agree there should be a remote for the farting neighbors who just let it rip and laugh. Can't wait to see the response. How I would love to be a fly on the wall :2thumbsup;

Perhaps she should be reminded what a video/DVD recorder is for (or DVR/Tivo for the advanced types in the US!)
:)
