Title: HI I AM NEW HERE
Post by: chetan4065 on March 14, 2013, 04:06:45 AM
MY NAME IS CHETAN AND I AM FROM MUMBAI, INDIA. I HAD A KIDNEY TX IN 1992 WHEN I WAS 14. MY MOM IS MY DONOR. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE GOING FYNE UNTIL 4 MONTHS BACK WHEN MY CREATININE LEVEL SHOT UP TO 2.7 (THE BASE BEING AROUND 2.1-2.2)...ALL MY OTHER COUNTS ARE NORMAL. CBC, ELECTROLYTES ETC. THE ONLY OTHER PROBLEM THAT I HAVE IS PROTEINURIA....MY DOCTER SUGGESTED A CHANGE IN MEDICINE(I WAS HAVING PREDISELONE 5 MG AND IMURAN 100MG) DAILY. THE DOCTOR SWITCHED ME OVER TO CELLCEPT 500MG TWICE A DAY AND PREDNISELONE 5MG ONCE A DAY. DID MY BOOD WORK AFTER A WEEK AND WAS SHOCKED TO C MY CREATNINE LEVEL HAD SHOT UP TO 3.3...I WAS VERY UPSET AND ASKED MY DOCTOR WHY DID MY CREATNINE LEVELS SHOOT UP AFTER CELLCEPT, HE SAID IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH CELLCEPT. I ASKED MY DOCTOR IF WE COULD INCREASE MY OLD MEDICATIONS(HE WASNT TOO PLEASED THAT I SUGGESTED THIS BUT SAID IT WAS OK TO HAVE IMURAN 150MG AND PREDNISELONE 10MG) I HAVE TO CHCK MY BLOOD AGAIN AFTER 2 WEEKS AND SEE IF SWITCHING BACK TO MY OLD MEDICINES HELPED...HAS ANY1 ELSE HAD ELEVATED CREATNINE LEVELS AFTER CELLCEPT? I AM SO WORRIED THAT AFTER ALMOST 21 YRS I AM GOING TO LOSE THE KIDNEY :( :( :( :( :( :(

Welcome, Chetan.       :welcomesign;

I can be of no help to you with your questions about your medications, but I'm sure there will be someone who will have suggestions for you.  Go easy on using CAPITAL letters, please.  It makes it harder to read.

I hope things work out for you.  Please keep us posted on how you go.  Again, welcome.

Hi Chetan and welcome to IHD.   :welcomesign;   There are many members who also had tx so I'm sure someone can help answer your questions, though sorry to say, I can not.   But in any case, you have come to the right place for all things renal!

Hi Chetan and welcome to IHD.  Hunji   ;D

Most transplants last 10 years, so you are doing great.  The possibility that you may have to have another transplant in your lifetime is probably "yes".

  See if the change in medication helps your creatinine come down.  Do what you think is best and work with your doctor wheather he likes it or not.

  The drugs that a transplant patient takes for rejection has a slow, but bad, affect on the transplanted kidney because the drugs are eventually eliminated by the kidneys and it is hard on them but we have no choice.  Twins who don't have to take our anti rejection drugs do much better with a transplant.

You will be fine.  Try not to worry.
