Title: PD Journey
Post by: Wat76 on January 11, 2013, 10:18:32 AM
Hello All and Happy New Year.

Well, I made it through my PD training, had my home visit and now I am on my own.  So far it has been great, I enjoy the freedom I now have and hope that all goes well.  Thanks to the abundance of information on this website, the decision was easy for me to switch from In-Center Hemo to PD.  Now of course I have a question, how long did it take you to get use to the fluid.  I am so full with the fluid, hopefully I will get use to it fast.  Well, Have a great weekend and I will report back in a month to let everyone  know how it is going.

Debra, I know you had a tough time on hemo, what with your fistula and all, so I am hoping that PD will work really well for you.  I'm so glad that things are OK so far.  I'm glad that you have found IHD to be so useful!

Debra,

How many kilos are you as well as how much fluid are you using ?  Are you doing manual exchanges ?           i was about 45 kilos when I was on PD and did 4 exchanges a day. I held 3 Liters of fluid.  At first it was uncomfortable but i dont believe it took too long to get used to it.  But as you know everyone is different.
How long where you on hemo?

Welcome to the group Debra. I'm glad things have settled down for you. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to the fluid load, now I don't really notice anything from about 3L or less.

Good Luck!

Hey Debra, rock on girl! You are so on your way.

This will get easier. Once you and your family get the routine down it will be better.
