I have bad headaches at the end of treatment. 20 L,  anyone else. Any remedies

Jane,

This is often caused from removing BUN too fast.  What blood flow are you running at ? Are you running over 400?  I would not recommend running more than this - actually I would recommend running no more than 350, but your neph probably wont go for this.
When you start to get a headache towards the end of the treatment or after your treatment, this is usually associeated with BUN. It is called "Dialysis Disequilibrium Syndrome"  It simply means that you are removing the BUN too fast and not giving the body enouph time to equilibrate at a steady level.   When the BUN is removed, it has to be replaced.  It rushes from your cells back into the bloodstream.  This includes the vascular space in your head. When the BUN rushes into the head, it swells a little, thus causing the headache.  You can read more about it here:
