My friends grandfather who has Type II diabetes and dementia went out for a short drive and never returned. He didn't have any meds with him and was not prepared for spending time away from home. She and her family are obviously distraught. They have set up a FB page and the local news has also run a story. So if anyone is on FB, could you please consider sharing the information? I guess they are having some trouble getting news coverage outside of the area, and their home state does not have a silver alert law. They are in Greenville, SC. Links to both are posted below. Our thoughts are with you smcd. I have been through this very thing. Keep your spirits up, dementia folks go AWOL frequently around the country, and are quite often located in fine shape.
I am on the other side of the country, so can't help directly, just offering you a hug and encouragement to keep your spirits up.

Just found out he was located by highway patrol and will be home after I am sure he's checked over. Thanks for anyone who reposted the info and thanks for your support. I can't imagine the panic my friend and her family were experiencing.

Oh so glad this was a good ending. It happened to my husbands brother. He had dementia too and got lost. They found him in a field and he looked up at everybody that found him like, they were the crazy ones! Go figure!
Yea, it was a very scary time for us too.

Yes my friend said he has been cleared medically and they hope some of the confusion goes away once he gets some good sleep.
