Post by: PinkCookie on November 25, 2012, 06:25:15 PM
First and foremost giving all honor and glory to my King in heaven.  I'm 36 mother of two and recently found out I'm in stage 5 CKD. Please know it hit me like a rob of bricks with no warning... I try to stay positive but have so many urstiind and worries.  I'm praying this site can give me some guidance and I hope to make new friends along the way. Any questions please ask I'm an open book.

It's hard...I won't try to tell you it's not. Look at the title of the website: I Hate Dialysis!

But if not for dialysis I would have died in 2010. I do nocturnal peritoneal dialysis (PD) and many times I look over at that machine with a combination of love and loathing. I hate being so dependent on a machine to stay alive...but it's because of that machine that I can still live a fairly normal life. I still work full-time and force myself to exercise and that helps keep me going.

So I appreciate that you are overwhelmed because I'm STILL overwhelmed by it at times. Feel free to ask us any questions--someone here has been through it and will be able to give you an answer from the patient's POV rather than throwing medical mumbo-jumbo at you.

Hello & Welcome to this site!  :waving;
Sorry you had to come to this site with these circumstances but everyone here is very helpful & I guarantee that someone here has been going through what your going through at some point or time in there CKD journey.
I agree with Willis... I still have a love/hate relationship with dialysis, but I can still live a pretty normal life for the most part, so try & keep your chin up!
Sending lots of thoughts & prayers your way!

Good Luck & God Bless!

Hi PinkCookie, God is in control. We know that.  He has a plan for you.  You just keep reading and learning.  Come here to ask questions.  Where do you live?

Hello and welcome
 I'm 38 and a mother of 4. How old are your kiddos?
It was really hard news to take. Are you on dialysis now or are you holding out? I'm holding out just hoping God will get me a donor before I must be on a machine.
Nice to meet you.

Welcome PinkCookie - love the name, by the way - you can do this.  It's no walk in the park but you can do this!  I started dialysis at age 44 with a 9 year old son.  Many things change but the things that matter most stay the same.  I worried most about how my being sick would shape my son's childhood as it inevitably did.  But now I see a strength and a maturity in my 15 year old that I'm very proud of.  So, cry whenever you need too, laugh as much as you can, worry as little as possible and, as Dori says (Finding Nemo), just keep swimming.

Welcome PinkCookie! :welcomesign; Finding out you have esrd can be so overwhelming...I know I came home and cried!  I've been doing PD home dialysis for a little over a year now, and I gotta say it is not as bad as I was afraid it might be!  Can;t say I like it,but it does keep me alive.

Stay strong!

Ricki

Hello! I am 37 and mom to 2 teenagers. It is hard to deal with it all. Educate yourself! Ask lots of questions. Remember lots of doctor treat you just like everyone else, but you are unique and may need different things than all the others! I get through my health issues with laughter. My hubby and I have a great attitude. You can do one of 2 things. Let it eat you up inside, lay down to die, or accept your situation and live your life. Best of luck to you!!!  :2thumbsup;
