 :cheer:  I have been on PD for a little more than a year.  I have had diabetes for 42 years, with all the complications that go with diiabetes.  I got pneumonia from breathing in fluid in July 2010-within 10 days my kidneys fail-I need to get stronger and then I can get on a list for a transplant.  I live near a big city, but way up in the mountains, where I can listen to birdsong and it's peaceful-the traveling librarian comes once a month to deliver me books.  I read a lot-mostly murder mysteries and science fiction.  I used to be a nurse, but I can no longer do all the bending and lifting necessary-so I took disability retirement.  I have a cat for companionship and I love to cook-even  if sometimes I only eat once a day.

Hi, rocky!  Glad you joined us!  There are a lot of good people here who will give you support, answer your questions  and understand the challenges of life on dialysis.  I live IN a big city (NY) and sometimes I long for the birdsong and peaceful surroundings that you describe...There's a thread here where we tell about the books we've been reading--it's under "Off-Topic: Talk About Anything You Want".  I think you'll enjoy contributing to that.   All the best to you.

Hi Rocky, you must have internet service up there.  Not sure what state Big City is in?  Utah?

Welcome Rocky - isn't rocky racoon a cartoon or comic character? hmm not sure. Anyway. You sound like my kind of person with the reading and the kitty company! Nice to have you with us !! It's also great that while you have a bit of an isolated(peaceful!) location you can keep in touch via books and of course the internet!!!

Welcome,sounds like you live in a nice spot,I also love to read and love nature,and cooking too.Sounds as though you should try and eat more,you know we need more protein than "before".        Nick

Joe - you're right! I did some searching and I was thinkin of ROCKET Raccoon - cloise!!!

I admit a fail in more ways than one since we are headed to Beatles Love in Vegas in a few days!!! d'oh!!!
