So my son came home yesterday with a letter explaining that there is/are confirmed cases of active tuberculosis at his school. All students and staff will be tested tomorrow at school. My transplant team told me to get tested first thing this morning, which I did. Now waiting for results. I'm so full of anxiety. I just feel like ...I don't know. I guess I just worry all the time about something going wrong. Can you relate?

I hope it all turns out fine. I was freaked out once when Jenna's sister was at risk for some bad illness (I cannot recall what it was, but very contagious), turned out it was not the case, but stressed us all out waiting. Good luck! :thumbup;

OMG did you get a result yet?
Good luck, and love Cas

Just got our results today. We are all negative. Thank goodness. That was a little "what if-ish!"
Thanks for your concern!

So glad you're all ok. Tuberculosis is so scary. I would have panicked.

TB is very scary. The good news is I don't think it is as contagious as it was once thought to be. Just make sure your son washes hands a lot at school and at home and isn't getting coughed on by sick kids. At work, we used to not interview people who had active TB, and if someone called to file a claim for TB we had to call a state registry to see if they were on the active list etc. Now we encourage teleclaims just to be safe, and if someone insists on coming in, or walks in, we have to use hand sanitizer and wipe down the counters with bleach when they leave. Not to minimize the risk or anything, however. Last time we had someone come in who was living with someone who had active TB, my coworkers didn't allow me to deal with them for fear I'd get it, or somehow carry it home and get Tony sick. You can never be too careful, right?
I am sure the school is doing something to sanitize/clean the classroom and common areas the student has been in?
And I am very glad everyone is negative. That is a huge relief I am sure!
