Title: PD solution and rip in membrane!
Post by: tbarrett2533 on September 10, 2012, 03:39:59 PM
Hello everyone!

First I would like to say hello and that I have been so busy this summer with camping trips and enjoying the warm weather that I have not been on and I am sorry for that.  I hope my fellow IHD friends are all doing well  ;D

I recently noticed that there was a rather large bulge above my belly button associated with severe heartburn and terrible trouble with drain pain and fill pain (I do CAPD) most days I would be lucky to do 2-3 treatments a day and that was at 1500ml fills (normal for me is 2000ml)  so I told my PD nurse and Neph as which point they told me they thought it was a Hernia so off to Utrasound I went.  come to find out I do not have a Hernia, but I have a pocket of PD soulution that is buliding up in this spot where they thought this Hernia was and I have a rip in my peritnium.

The PD nurse said she dose not know how or why I am having such terrible heartburn but will call in a script for something.  The Neph does not know what to do with this issuse and does not seem to worried about it............ I on the other hand am not even able to get 1000ml of solution in at most treatment times due to the pain level/bloating even during my dwells.   therefore I am skipping more and more of my treatments because of it yet I am not to worry about this?

so my question to you all is has anyone ever come accross this issue? if so what can be done? what options do I have?
Please do not tell me this is it for my round of PD b/c I refuse to go back to Hemo and that is all that is left for me at this point if PD fails

thank you all in advance for your feedback

Tracy, I haven't heard of that particular problem. Sorry that it hurts so much, I do know how bad drain pain can be. Ive had it wake me in the middle of the night. Here's hoping your Neph comes up with an answer soon.

tbarrett2533, that sounds awful and painful. How long will you have to wait for a solution to this? Surly they can not leave you to muddle through, it is not right. Get back on to your nurse or neph.
