Hey all,
I am sitting here very frustrated and miserable. I haven't been approved for transplant cause I have been getting infections. I was good from April til last week, when I got another UTI. I am having a pancreatitis flare up, too, am am crazy weak and sick. So I have two questions...
First, what can i eat that's renal and pancreatitis flare-up friendy? I have hypoglycemia cause of kidney disease, and i'm a wreck, might have to skip work..
second, part of my infection prevention is to irrigate my neo-bladder (made out of my colon), but my new urologist (who i like) wants me to use sterile water. i used to make my own saline solution. i paid $15 for a 500 ml bottle from my medical supplier (insurance won't cover it) but the Rx says to use 30 ml twice a week. The bottle says to dispose of remaining portion, so i'm afraid it will be too germy, even in the fridge (i used to put salinein the fridge). The nurse I talked to was vague and this particular doctor is tough to talk to on phone or email, im always talking to a no-nothing nurse (recently Urology has gone way downhill, they used to be really good nurses.)
I am half-crazy right now, so excuse my lazy typing. have to go to bed, appointments tomorrow and already run down.
Anyone know where I can get 30ml containers of STERILE water? All I find when I search are bacteriostatic (which is wrong) or 500 ml. I m starting to get really angry. This has the effect of me just not irrigating.
Thanks, guys, I have been trying to take care of this and thought I'd give the site a try...

I thought you could just boil it, but apparently you need a pressure cooker?

For home dialysis they put an RO unit in my house for the most pure water. RO means Reverse Osmosis.

I get 100ml bottles of saline and use it with 30ml syringes.
I irrigate 3 times during that one use.
Have you talked to the medical place you get your catheter cause they could order you stuff they don't have.

kitkatz, I love your profile picture!
I can't use the bacteriostatic, though. I am just going to make my own or get saline. This pure sterile stuff is hard to get hold of, and doesn't keep well enough for my comfort.
thanks for the link, though!
