Title: Introducing myself
Post by: zionsgate1 on February 16, 2007, 01:02:42 PM
Hello all. My name is Amy.  I live in Missouri and have been on dialysis just about 5 years.  I do nocturnal home hemodialysis  :clap;.  I have five children and five grandchildren with another on the way.  I am just under 50 yo and am hoping to get all my retesting done so I can get on the local list.  I have done home hemo with buttonholes, graft and catheter.  I've also done in-center and conventional home hemo but like the freedom of nocturnal better.  I currently work part-time at Wal*Mart as a cashier.  Well, anyone out there who wants to talk can email me at nephro48@yahoo.com.
Blessings & Peace,
Amy in MO

Zionsgate1, I like your name.  Welcome to IHD.  I think you will like it here if you have TIME.  Sounds like you are pretty busy.  That is great!  I hope to do In-Center Nocturnal Dialysis as soon as I move to WA State.

I'm so glad you found our site.

Blessings and Peace to you too, Amy. Welcome to our caring community.  We are so glad to have you with us. You are a veteran and I know you will have much to share with us.  But at the same time, I know that this site has much to offer you.  Take your time and read the thread that interest you.  But don't just read, please post as well.  Let us get to know you better.  This site is quite comprehensive.  There is the Off-Topic section that is very interesting.  We have a family section where you get to see pictures of our members (hope to see yours).  We have a chatroom.  I could go on and on.  Just take advantage of all that we have to offer.
Here is a group hug for you. :grouphug;

Title: Still!!!!! on dialysis and awaiting my first transplant/frustrated
Post by: zionsgate1 on May 11, 2010, 01:28:02 PM
Well I thought I'd post on here.  I am involved in many email listserve groups, but don't want to bring anyone down on there.  I checked the last time I posted here, has it really been over 3 years?  I can't believe I am entering my 9th year of dialysis.  It has now been 6+ years since first listed and still I wait.  I am so tired of hearing about all the other people who are getting transplants.  Don't get me wrong I am thrilled for them, but some of them are getting their 3rd and 4th transplants and here I am still holding out for my first, and blast it all it just doesn't seem or feel fair.  I know I am being irrational, emotional etc and that I will feel differently tomorrow but I am sick of the endless dialysis.  To date I have had 12 surgeries (since I started dialysis 8+ years ago), and about 50 procedures relating to dialysis.  I had my native kidneys removed, 3 bouts of sepsis, pneumonia and C-diff.  I now have 3 compression fractures in my spine and have lost 3+ inches of height due to bone disease from long-term dialysis ----even though I am getting the "cadillac" of dialysis.  I have neuropathy, which I was told I wouldn't get because I have always had very well controlled diabetes, my A1C has never been over 5.5 except when I was first diagnosed.  I've lost over 100 lbs and was able to eliminate insulin and any other drug for my diabetes, so why do they tell us we won't get neuropathy?  I am very proactive, but today I've hit my limit.  I am sick of doing the nurses, social worker's and doctor's jobs.  I am tired of getting the run around and having everyone else screw things up, not follow through and being the dumping ground for all their crap.  :Kit n Stik; Okay....I guess that's enough venting for today.  Somedays I just want to scream, and today I guess I'll have to open the window and shout "Hey, I've had enough, everyone can just go to hell." It won't accomplish much except for a brief moment make me feel a bit better about the situation.  Thanks for listening. :stressed; btw I changed my email addy, you can email me at amystaples32@yahoo.com or zionsgate1@yahoo.com

Welcome back to the site.  Don't worry about the rant.  We all  have those days.  We all want our normal lives back.  Unfortunately, we just have a different kind of normal now.  So, whenever you feel the need, just come here and let it out, we'll listen. (and understand).  Take care.
