I am 9 months post-tx, and almost 5 months post-op for an emergency surgery to remove a biopsy induced hematoma. I have been anemic since that 2nd surgery. I had an iron panel done today, and noticed that my ferritin results are quite high. Normal range is 10-180, mine is 789. My iron binding capacity is below normal, but not by a lot, and my iron serum levels are normal. Anyone have any experience with this? I haven't heard from the TC yet, but will talk to them on Monday.

I would have the test repeated, maybe at the tx clinic to see what they get. You never know if something may have interferred with the test results especially when they are out of the norm for you and your iron binding is normal. If second test is high, then I would be more concerned and definitley get the tx on the line..
Asfor the reult and tx center not calling, I noticed with mine that it depends on the person who reads them. Some just look at BUN, Creat, and Immunos levels and nothing else, while an astute nurse looks at everything.

Oh, the test will be repeated, for the next 3 weeks! Unless they decide otherwise, of course...
As for the TC nurse, mine was on vacation last week, so the one filling in had 2 patient loads to deal with. That's okay by me, especially since this was Friday.
Looking at my history for ferritin levels, it has been high in the past as well. I guess it's pretty common in tx patients, from the little research I have done so far on the internet. It's just weird to see. Not quite sure what to make of it!
MM, I've been feeling better. I had a summer cold that lasted for over a month, and towards the end of that, I had a bladder infection. Now that's all cleared up, so I'm feeling more like myself again. My creatinine had been down to 3.6 before the cold, went up to 4.3 due to lack of appetite/stomach flu symptoms (at the beginning of cold. still can't figure out where that came from) then went down to 4.0 a week later, then slowly crept back down to 3.6 again.. Last reading on Friday was 3.49. I had an ultrasound, too. Don't know results yet.
