This is not meant to be an advertisement, but if the post disappears I will know why.
I am on my second PD catheter. The first one was organised and comfortable with a dressing and a bit of tape. The second one is hard to keep in place, and is uncomfortable, even with multiple bits of tape and a dressing. I had often browsed through the web sites looking at PD belts thinking "Yuk" and "Ouch", but decided that my current catheter needed a helping hand (and so did I)
On the strength of a couple of recommendations on this discussion board I lashed out and bought 6 Stickman belts. They were sent the day I ordered them and arrived two weeks later (US to Australia) Postage charged was $18 - cost of postage $11.60 - packed in a sturdy box.
They are extremely comfortable. They sit rather high on my waist. I suspect any belt would probably sit high. If I was a teeny-bopper or a sweet young thing with a desire to display my midriff I would be very disappointed. However, it doesn't show through as lumpy or strange when I wear a gently fitted T-shirt.
Made in the US of A, so you Americans would be supporting a local business.
I thought they were a little pricey (about the same as a good quality long sleeved T-shirt) but I always think clothing is expensive. On the other hand they are very comfortable, and they are supposed to wear well. I'll be back to report if they don't.

I tried to get the boyfriend to try different belts but he likes the ones that are offered by Fresenius. He is thin, so it fits right at his waist.
It is also very possible that he likes them because they're free.

I have a Stickman belt from my short life on PD (10 days first catheter, 4 days the next). I probably used it about half a dozen times. My dialysis center wouldn't take it, so I tucked it away as it seemed a waste to chuck it.
What is your opinion on the appropriateness of posting it on this list as a freebie? It's been washed and is in super shape. I have to unpack some boxes to find it, but I know I still have it.

KatieV - I don't see that as being inapporpriate. As long as people understand that it's used and they can't bitch or return it, I think it's a good idea.

Just have people PM you so your address isn't on the forum.

when I was on PD, I considered buying a stickman belt, but I eventually decided on the collapsible IV pole instead.

mcclane, that made me laugh. What has a stick man belt got to do with a IV pole. Do you put the belt around the pole and dance!
-
mcclane! ??? :waiting;

I have used them when I started PD but after they were washed several times they started to roll up on me. I went back to the free ones from Fresenius and replace them often.

I got my Stickman belts in the mail yesterday. The shirts were cheaper, but I prefer the belts. I'll still use the shirts. I'll be able to mix them up.
