Title: Direct TV
Post by: kitkatz on February 15, 2007, 06:03:45 PM
I am STILL waiting for the guys from Direct TV to get their butts out here and put in our system.  Been waiting since Tuesday afternoon. Think they could call me?  Tell me they are not coming at least?  I am on the phone having a conniption fit at someone.  He says someone will be here at ten o'clock tomorrow.  They better put money off my bill next month or trouble is brewing.

Why, oh why can't people just do their jobs??? :banghead;

They will give you extra channels if you complain loud enough.

I told the guy if they do not show up tomorrow I will keep the cable.  Thank you, at least cable shows up when they say they will or calls.

Love the DVR, too.  I love how if I miss the first few minutes of a show that's been recording, I can start watching it while the DVR keeps recording the rest of it.  Nifty!

The cable guys show up on time? Which one of the monopolies do you have?
I have had Dish TV for over 5 years. I don't have to deal with the terrible
service I used to get with cable, and the DVR is great. The only way I go
back to cable is if the Chinese shot all the satellites out of the air.

I have cable, it's always worked great.
My question is...
What shows do you tivo or dvr or record?
Mine current tivo favorites are:
My name is Earl
The Bad Girls Club
Campus Ladies
Survivor
House
Monk
Top Chef
What Not to Wear
Project Runway
Sopranos, Entourage, Deadwood (when they are on)
-- that's all I can think of for now.

I live in snow storm central in northern Michigan.  I haven't lost signal for more than a minute or two this entire winter.

Installations and antenna problems are handled by independant contractors not Direc tv itself so blame them for the problems you might be having.  They do try to retain exising customers so complaining MIGHT just get you somewhere and something.  Remember..."It's Got to be Direc tv."

Did you get your Direct TV installed Kitkatz and are you happy with it?

Yes, they installed it Friday morning at 8:30a.m. after I bitched at them Thursday night!  Offered to go back to cable.  They came, it is in, and now I have over 150 channels with nothing on them I want to watch. Channel flippers unite!

I almost ordered Direct TV once then got to wondering if we had an ice storm,
high winds, etc. and there was damage who was responsible for fixing it.
Do you have to keep up a maintenance contract to take care of such things?

From my experience with DirecTV,  there is a $99.00 service charge for them to come out and fix whatever it is that is messed up, what we had to do was sign up for the $5.00 a month service, wait a month, then, call and make a complaint about our problem,  damn,  as if we werent paying enough already, sheeesh  :-\

TiVo is a box, like a VCR, powered by the amazing TiVo service, automatically finds and digitally records all of your favorite shows, every time they're on. The search engine finds and automatically record the shows that match your interests (by title, actor, director, category, even keyword) and lets you transfer shows to your laptop or portable device, or burn them to DVD. It can hold up to 80 hours and there's a monthly fee.
