Title: Second Liberty to bite the dust
Post by: JLM on August 12, 2012, 09:28:20 PM
I was setting up tonight and just as I was to attach my extension to the tubing I got a SYSTEM FAILURE error  I called the 800 number and they had me go to the screen that shows the voltage.  Two of the number were not right.  They are shipping me a new machine and will be here tomorrow afternoon.   There had been thunder rolling around this area a couple hours earlier.but they were further north of here.  I'm getting a surge protector to put on the outlet.  Oh, bother...........

Sorry to hear about the trouble, I hope your machine will be with you now. Why don't the provide you with a surgeprotector from the start? I even have one on my coffee-machine

They didn't provide one because they probably don't recommend one. I had called Baxter about electrical issues and they say to never use a surge protector. Unfortunately I forget if they said why.

I called my nurse last night to let her know of the machine failure.  I mentioned about getting a surge protector and she said that would be a good idea.  I have a 6 outlet power cord here with surge protection, I'll use that one.

I'm on my 10th Liberty machine. lol
I travel a lot and these machines just dont hold up well to a lot of moving around.
I love it when you call service and they go through the simple fixes like making sure you broke the stems correctly etc etc.  I stop them fast and tell them that I have lived with this machine for 3 years and I know what I am doing.. and to just...send me a new one!

Whenever I had called them with a SYSTEM FAILURE the first thing was to check the voltage.  I now have it plugged into a power strip with surge protection.  And that is the only thing plugged into that socket.  This is a 50+ old house and I know its not a dedicated line

Sorry to briefly threadjack but *kana* - how can you stand to travel with that monster? Do you fly or drive when you travel? When the boyfriend and I flew with it, the whole ordeal about broke his mind. He doesn't want to fly again until he gets a transplant.

As thunder boomers rolled in yesterday evening I unplug the Liberty and didn't plug it in until they rolled out of the area and it was time to get hooked up.
