I feel almost every emotion right now as I write this for the first time. I have waited for this day for my husband for 4 years and it finally has arrived. He has been on Dialysis for six years by the end of this year. I decided to be a Kidney Donor. I finished all the testing Friday. (They already said we are a match). I get a call today my coordinator said everything looks good and I can go ahead and give him my left kidney, I could start the surgery as early as mid- end of July. But she also said if we needed more time to get things together we can shoot for August. I said August sounds good. My job is already aware of everything and they have been very supportive. Our family and friends have been as well. This is new territory for me, I met my husband when we was already diagnosed. Now he can get better? Like.. What?? I'm scared, and happy at the same time. I just want everything to go well for him/us. The last thing I have to do is speak to the surgeon and do a chest x-ray which I can do the same do I see the surgeon. I spoke to the kidney doctor, they psy doctor, my social worker, my coordinator, etc. I already know what to expect as far as the recovery process I have looked over and read extensively for two to three years. Wow that is all I can say.

My brother donated to me 16 months ago. All I can say to you is

Oh wow thanks for all the support everyone! And I will more than likely Pm a few of you for advice. For the ones that donated how did you feel afterwards? What changes did you have to make if any? What about habits? I admit I like to get my drank on once in awhile. I'm still in shock... My mom i sliving wiht us for awhile so I know I have the extra help, I know it is going to be a rough few months but in a good way. I'm more nervous because I didn't meet my husband when he was well. Now I'm in a new Turf. I'm not going to lie, I hope to GOD (my kidney) does not fail like ever lol I know it can happen but I don't want it to. We have been through HELL for the past couple of years, he almost went totally blind this year. Thank God for good doctors. Were talking about our future plans in the next few months but also what he wanted to do when he can work again, he said that he wanted to be a Dialysis technician he wants to give back in anyway he can. I think that is a admirable thing. Wow.. just wow.. I could scream.

Oh, this is such terrific news! Gosh, so much good stuff has been happening on IHD in the past day or two! I have no advice for you, but I did want to offer my congratulations and good wishes. :clap;
