Title: Access Problems
Post by: kitkatz on May 27, 2012, 09:57:08 PM
I just spent 21 hours in Kaiser, Fontana getting my fistula rebooted. My arm hurts.  I have sutures in it and bandaids on it.

I am the king of access problems.  I've had about thirty fistulagrams.  I have had two fistulas, a graft and three central lines.

Oh kitkatz, that's not a good way in which to spend the holiday weekend...in the hospital!

How exactly was it rebooted?  Is it ok to use?

My low BP caused a lot of these problems. I went to ER with 85/59 blood pressure.   They look at me like I am nuts.  I calling vascular surgeon in the morning.  See if he wants to see me or send me to ER.

Spent Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. in ER. Most of it waiting for Radiology to have space in their schedule for me.  Hurt me when they worked on my fistula in my arm.  They were chasing clots down into my lower arm.  One got loose from them, so far no side effects from it.  I was crying while they worked on me.  The ER tried to turn me into a pin cushion.  Has a pushy ER doc yell at me. I was crying and in pain and she yells at me.  WTF!!!  Finally got enough blood to check my potassium and sent me home. I am exhausted.  Sore and tired.

Oh gosh, that sounds just dreadful.  I can't believe the ER doc treated you that way.  That's abysmal, it really is.

They finally gave me morphine and Ativan, ten came and got my blood for the third time in half and hour.  Geez!  I was crying by the time I was up from xray.  No one asked me if I needed something until I was yelling at the doc who was yelling at me!

OMG so, so sorry for you Kitkatz, I'll be thinking of you! (I'm sorry, can't ask my dad for prayers anymore, cos he 'went over to the other side' a week ago).

Lots of strength, and love

Cas

Kit, I,m so sorry you had such a tough time, and I don't know why it had to hurt so much.  I had a fistulagram at Kaiser West LA and it was horribly painful.  Why are they so stingy with the anesthesia, that's what I'd like to know!
Somebody should make that mean ER doc go through what you did, and then maybe she'd think twice before yelling at you or any other patient.
