Title: Inferred sauna use with dialysis
Post by: grannyM on May 24, 2012, 07:56:31 AM
I am wondering if anyone on dialysis (I am PD) uses a sauna.  I enjoyed the heat from the inferred sauna and would like to do it again. I also like the deep sweat from the sauna; just a good feeling afterwards.

hellow GrannyM, and just a bit of info i was told on sauna.  First, i read how its a great way to help detoxify yourself and that some have not even needed D when they have saunna'd regularly... On the other hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bo's dr advises STRONGLY against it.  So there ya go!  In other words, i have no idea  :stressed; ..but i do know that if you have heart issues as well, that it is for sure not recommended.  Im guessing it's something you best discuss with your neph/heart dr/ or who ever else takes care of your health with you.  Seems that it's one of those things that is really individual...  And btw....  :welcomesign;

When I asked my Doctor about Infared sauna, he said no way.  Especially if he has high BP, it's probably not a good idea.

Sauna is great for kidney suffers because sweating eliminates the same things as dialysis. When your kidneys decline more of the uremic waste starts coming out thru your sweat glands.
Check out uremic frost "A clinical finding in severe chronic renal failure, in which the concentration of urea is markedly increased in sweat, causing precipitation of crystallised urea in the skin"
