Title: Odd fluid build up in my old PD cath exit site.
Post by: highway61 on May 10, 2012, 04:15:56 PM
I had an appointment today at the Transplant Center. One of the problems I brought to the Doctors attention was a bit of swelling near to my PD catheter exit site.

She squeezed and pinched it for a bit a gush of fluid erupted out. I couldn't see from just where but the doctor said it was from the exit site. She said it wasn't infection and that it may build up again.

Anyone experienced this? Thanks.

Nope, not me.

Ewwww. I don't want that. I only got my catheter removed 3 days ago. No problems yet. That seems really odd and an unhelpful explanation.

I had my catheter removed on the 24th of April. This is the only issue I have had. The doctor said it wasn't uncommon and wasn't something she was worried about.

I don't worry until the doctor worries.  Sounds like they have seen this and know what it is.  But, I hope it goes away!   Good luck.

Highway, I guess if the Doc isn't too fired up about it, I wouldn't be too concerned either. As has been noted, it appears that they have seen it before and it's not too big a problem. Now, if the Doc pressed on it, got the fluid out and said "hmm", then I'd worry  :rofl;

I am not too worried about it, just curious more than anything. I agree with the general consensus here that if the doc ain't worried, I ain't gonna  worry.
