I was reading up on Cushing's Disease because I saw a special on it and noticed I had most if not all of the "symptoms" of it... but then I ran into conflict... check it out:
Symptoms of Cushings:
Fat deposits can form around your stomach and upper back, but arms and legs stay thin and don't usually get fatter.
((I have a pudgy stomach... even before Transplant... and my upper back is "fatty", however my legs are normal skinny, and legs are also... so I don't know what to think of this.))
Your skin gets thinner and is easily bruised.
((I bruise VERY easy... however, that's also from Lupus, but my Lupus is in remission since 99, so dunno if it can still cause that. My skin seems very thin as I gets cuts and sores just from scratching an itch.))
Cuts, scratches and insect bites take a long time to heal.
((Yes... they do. However, again... Lupus causes this, low Immune System causes this...))
Pink or purple stretch marks may form on your skin.
((I have stretch marks all over my stomach area, under arms, and breast area.... stomach tho I have had 2 c-sections and 2 transplants... so....))
Your face may become round and puffy.
((I have a round puffy face... however, this can be caused from Prednisone also, and I was in it many years.))
You may feel tired and have weak muscles.
((I feel tired all of the time... but on dialysis you feel tired too.. although I'm still tired after Transplant, my HGB and HCT have been a little low, and my phos has been low... so they can all cause that too.... ))
You may feel depressed.
((I think lots of people on dialysis can be and are depressed...now that I have had a Transplant, I'm not depressed, but I am still frustrated with things going on in my life...))
Women usually have irregular menstrual periods and may grow thick or more visible body hair.
((I have irregular menstrual cycles... sometimes I don't have one... ))
High blood pressure, osteoporosis (weak and brittle bones) and blood sugar levels that are higher than normal can be signs of Cushing's syndrome or disease.
((I have high blood pressure... but alot of people on dialysis do too... after transplant its still high... I have Osteo-Arthritis in my right ankle.. my blood sugar runs a little high, but its also a side effect of my immunosupressive drugs...))
You often get skin infections or other infections, and they take longer to heal.
((I have had 2 sores on my hands for over 5 months, still not healed.... I also have some sores in my ears, over 6 months, still nothealed....))
so I have all these symptoms... yet they could be other things I have pointed out... I am thinking of asking my Dr net Wednesday if they can add to my blood work a "cortisol" level.. b/c thats a major sign of it...
For some reason this disease/syndrome stood out to me, and has been on my mind since I seen it...

You mentioned this in another post and I looked this up, I wonder if half of the worlds Renal Patients have this. Very interesting, Thanks Angela515 for posting this.

Those are all the side-effects from Prednisone also.

Yes, there is... and I havent been on Prednisone in 3 years... i'm just pointing out the similarities... makes me wonder... b/c every symptom I have, even though they can all be from something else.

I keep seeing these commercials for this weight loss pill, i forget the name, but its main point is stress causes cortisol, and cortisol causes the fat deposits around the stomache area.... I know we are all stressed being on or have been on dialysis.... Makes me wonder if our cortisol levels are up.
